Project Description: Due to the ever-increasing population and growth of the western portion of the city, the City of Huntsville initiated the expansion of its Western Area Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in early 2022. This would be the third upgrade since the construction of the plant in 1980. The scope of the expansion was to match treatment capacity at the original WWTP by fabricating a new, ancillary process train and improvements to multiple preexisting process structures.
GTEC Services: GTEC provided engineering and numerous types of materials testing and inspection services during the project’s construction phase. GTEC provided on-site observations of all earthwork that initially took place for foundation preparation. GTEC then coordinated testing with our nearby laboratory to provide the project with a cost-effective and time-efficient materials testing program.
